If your Haflinger has been imported into Great Britain from Europe, and has a passport albeit in Dutch, Belgian, German - don’t panic. The Society is able to update some of these passports for you but only if they have been issued by the recognised Haflinger registry in each respective European Country. Above are some examples of the passports that we can update, however, if you cannot see an example of your passport then do not hesitate to contact the Registrar. Passport covers are updated from time to time and we have tried to include as many of the different types as possible, and will continue to update our library as and when new ones come in. If you have a German passport you may find the front cover varies slightly from those detailed below as they have approximately 15 different regions all having their own brand marks on the front cover.
To update the passport to record you as the new owner please forward to the Registrar the original passport, a proof of purchase (this will be returned) and the name and address that you wish recording in the passport. We ask you to print the new owner details clearly to avoid error. There is an administration charge of £10.00 and any cheques should be made payable to ‘The Haflinger Society of Great Britain’. We recommend you send your documents by ‘signed for’ delivery costing approximately £1.60. Your documents will be returned to you in the same way.
We would recommend that if there is a microchip number recorded in your horse’s passport, that your vet attempts to locate the chip in the horse to confirm horse and passport belong together. Whilst identification can be confirmed from the markings and drawings that should be recorded in the passport, it is unfortunate, but not unusual that these have not been completed.
