Melie’s story
I became the proud owner of Miss Melia on 27.07.2005 when she was just two and a little bit, she was already backed and had done the basics.  I bought her home and just carried on with her education in a steady pace.  She seemed to enjoy learning and took everything in her stride.

Melie turned 4 in April 07 and set off on her first big adventure – Horse Camp.  To begin I was a little dubious but we had a fab time, jumping around the cross country course and beginning to work in an outline in our flat work.

During 2007 we competed in various dressage competitions, did some fun rides and cross country competitions and competed at the breed show.  No major wins but her behaviour was second to none. By 2008 Miss Melia was such a good girl I decided that perhaps my daughter Samantha should be slowly let loose on her, they got on like a house on fire and Melie didn’t put a hoof wrong.

I took her to the breed show in 2008 and got on really well.  We came home with a rosette from every class we entered  and were Reserve Champion in the Show jumping and Reserve Champion in the Novice Ridden.

The Wednesday after the Breed Show Melia went to Pony Club Camp with Samantha.  She was a little angel and again took everything in her stride.  Samantha had a ball with her jumping show jumps to 3ft cross country fences.  Melie continued through the summer doing fun rides and dressage competitions and in October 08 she went clear on her first intermediate cross country course.

Melie has continued her education further this winter and was out hunting with the Flint and Denbigh every Saturday.  To begin with I took her out and her manners were impeccable so I felt comfortable that Samantha would be safe with her.  Well there’s no stopping them now - both Samantha and Miss Melia will take their Hunting Certificate next season.

Well I think that that sums up Miss Melia, a true reflection of the Haflinger Breed and a true little star – well in my eyes anyway…
