Chino gained his place in the Lifetime Ridden Performance Awards by gaining:-
Category 1 – five wins in Ridden classes and two wins in Pairs Ridden.
Category 2 – two wins in show jumping, five wins in Pairs Jumping and two wins in WHP.
Category 3 – a win in Side Saddle.

Chino’s dam, Eger-Elsa was an early import from Austria and one of the founder mares for the British Society. Originally imported by The Duchess of Devonshire. Her Grace also imported Chino’s sire Maximilian and like Elsa, had a significant and lasting influence on the British stock we have today. Sadly Chino and his brother Mosscarr Maximilian are the last offspring of this successful pairing.

Chino's Story

Chino has had 2 passions since he was born – Endurance and Jumping !! I’ve been privileged to know him since he was 6 months old when bought by Helen Blair at the Silvretta stud along with his older brother Max. I first got to ride him at the age of 4 and from there we’ve never looked back !!
Chino will do his best at anything he tries and in the sport of Endurance has had a truly spectacular career, in the early days alongside his best friend Whitbourne Andy and today with Earendil Ahoshta. He has been an ambassador for the Breed over may years having been part of the famous Silvretta Haflinger display team an also representing the Breed at many events throughout the UK.
In the Show ring he has had extensive success. He is an enthusiastic jumper winning individually as well as with a number of pairs partners, most recently with another Lifetime Ridden performance winner and his good friend, Oxnead Schamrock. Chino also does well on the flat and has had several wins in individual Ridden classes, Pairs Ridden (originally with his brother Mosscarr Maximilian, but now also with Earendil Ahoshta), Dressage and nowadays is very successful on the veteran circuit.
Chino’s final feathers in his cap are 2 unique disciplines – Side Saddle and Le Trec. He was broken to side saddle for the Haflinger World Show back in 2000 and it was with great pride, along with the rest of the team, that we represented Great Britain in their native Austria. He went on to have numerous wins under side saddle, probably of most note was 2 concurrent wins at the Side Saddle National Championships with Ash’s mum Earendil Elentari where the pair have been the only native breed to win the Pairs Championship. Le Trec is a recent addition to his disciplines and he is already winning !!
Chino is a truly versatile Haflinger and has always been a truly fabulous ambassador for the Breed. He is an honour to own and compete with. It is with great pride that he has not only been awarded the Lifetime Ridden Performance award, but also the Society’s overall Lifetime Achievement award.
