HAFFIES HELP TO RAISE OVER £5000.00
FOR THE AIR AMBULANCE IN LEICESTERSHIRE

Earlier this year one of the Young Farmers in Leicestershire had a fatal accident and in memory of Sam a sponsored ride and toddle was arranged.  In the spirit of setting yourself and a Haffy a challenge they decided to do the 11 miles.  I know some of you are sitting there and thinking 11 miles no problem, however, Raoul does not ride and we only had 3 weeks to achieve this.  Undeterred Cary was tacked up and Raoul was hoisted up, after walking around the small lunging arena a couple of times it was decided out on the road was the next step.  Luckily Cary is my driver and therefore voice commands took the place of legs.  The other part of the partnership is Cary’s daughter Izzy (Langtonlodge Charisma) she is 4 years old and although she was broken to ride at 3 had been turned away until earlier this year when she was broken to drive and now is the other half of my pair with her mother.
The roads having been conquered the day dawned and in borrowed transport, as my lorry is under reconstruction, we arrived at the venue, only to find 150 + horses & ponies already there.  Cary and Izzy came out of the box and immediately caused a stir with the various other entrants and especially the event organiser.  (Who is now looking for a bombproof haffy for hacking out).  Even though Izzy had never been anywhere with this many non Haffies or Haffies and certainly not ridden they were both impeccably behaved.  The 11 mile course took them over some fabulous countryside, down the canal tow and over some very small wooden bridges over the canal.  Cary, Izzy, Emily & Raoul all survived and between them raised over £600 towards the total.
